Empowering Care on the Go: The Success of Community Mobile Working
Innovate is thrilled to share the success of the Community Mobile Working project, an initiative aimed at empowering out-of-hospital (OOH) staff with enhanced tools and connectivity to deliver their critical work more efficiently.
This collaborative effort between our Project and Technology Services teams has brought about tangible improvements in the day-to-day operations of community healthcare professionals.
One standout achievement from the project was the implementation of a battery pack pilot. Over the course of four weeks, 46 battery packs were distributed to OOH staff who had been facing significant challenges with laptop battery life. The results were remarkable, with 87% of participants who had previously struggled with battery issues reporting a significant reduction in the time spent returning to their base to charge their devices.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the pilot has resulted in battery packs becoming standard equipment for all OOH staff. This development ensures that community teams can remain mobile and focused on delivering care, without unnecessary interruptions to their workflow.
Reflecting on the impact of this initiative, Talitha Carding, Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Out of Hospital at SWFT, shared: “The introduction of battery packs has made a significant difference for our OOH staff. It allows them to stay out in the community for longer periods without the constant worry of losing power.
“This means they can dedicate more time to their patients and less time on logistical challenges, which ultimately improves both efficiency and job satisfaction. It’s a simple solution that’s having a profound impact on our day-to-day work.”
Innovate is committed to contributing to the improvement of working practices for community staff. By providing innovative solutions and ongoing support, we are helping to enhance efficiency and deliver better outcomes for healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.
